BEELEY , DERBYSHIRE, Thursday 12 May 2005

Martin again organised the walk and also arranged some glorious weather. Fifteen members attended and it has been suggested that it was one of the best walks yet. Gerry, Geoff & George took some (lots of!) excellent photographs - click here when you've an hour to spare to see them.

Details of the walk are as follows:
START POINT: Devonshire Arms, Beeley, Nr Chatsworth, Derbyshire Phone; 01629 733259
TIME: 10.00 am assemble for tea/coffee at the Devonshire Arms with walk to start at 10.30 am
DIRECTIONS;
Beeley is on the B6012 from Rowsley to Baslow close to Chatsworth Park. It can be reached from the north via the A619 from Chesterfield / Baslow to Bakewell road - turn left at the roundabout past the Baslow Cricket Club then straight on taking the B6012 through Chatsworth Park to Beeley. From the south take A6 from Matlock to Bakewell turning right at Rowsley taking the B6012 to Beeley. There is ample parking in the car park opposite the Devonshire Arms.

WALK:
Approximately 6 miles of fairly easy going pathways starting from Beeley taking a steady climb to Beeley Hilltop, then across open moorland and woodland above Chatsworth to the Hunting Tower above the House, we return via Chatsworth House and the river walk to Beeley.

The Devonshire Arms serve an excellent selection of bar meals and ales. We anticipate arriving back at approximately 12.30 pm for lunch at 1.00 pm in the private top bar.

Cheers
Martin
