Cromford Canal & Lea Bridge, Whatstandwell, Derbyshire - Thursday 15 November
Martin organised our last walk of 2007. Keith, Trevor and Martin blazed the trail on a beautiful sunny autumn day and once again we were lucky: the walk itself was on a beautiful crisp winters day. 12 members did the walk with another three (just about) walking wounded turning up for an excellent lunch.

START POINT: The Derwent Hotel, Whatstandwell, Derbyshire
DE4 5HG Tel: 01773 856616 Website

DIRECTIONS TO THE DERWENT HOTEL: The Hotel is on the main A6 where it crosses the River Derwent at Whatstandwell Bridge. It is about 2 miles north of the A6 / A610 junction at Ambergate. There is parking opposite in the pub car park which is rather small or just up the hill (some 50 yards - towards Crich) there is parking near the Cromford Canal.

WALK:
The walk started from the Derwent Hotel and is 5 miles long. It takes in the Cromford Canal and woods around Lea Bridge, close to Florence Nightingale’s home at Lea Hurst. Generally the walk is easy going and good under foot.
