old poets cornerDIRECTIONS: Another easy one to find. Coming from the south along the M1, leave the motorway at Junction 28. On the slip road, get into  the inside lane and turn left at the roundabout (1st exit) along the A38, signposted Derby. After about 2 miles, leave the dual carriageway, signposted Alfreton A61, and at the roundabout at the end of the slip road take the 3rd exit onto the A61. This will take you through Alfreton, following the signs towards Chesterfield. After about 5 miles, bear left onto the Ashover Road - B6014, signposted Tansley. After about 1 mile this road continues as the Ashover New Road - B6036 which takes you into Ashover. The 'Old Poets' Corner' is on your left as soon as you enter the village.

PARKING: There is some parking at the pub, but probably not enough for everyone. However, there is plenty of unrestricted parking on the road opposite the pub (up the hill).

The walk, whilst at the lower end in length (4.5 miles), is slightly different in nature from our ususal walks and has many points of historical significance. When we did the 'dummy' the trees were starting to look superb however David has promised a spectacular show by the time we walk on the 29th. Whilst no guarantees can be given, at no point throughout the walk were over-trousers required.

The 'Old Poets' serves food fresh and has asked that we pre-order or main course before the day. If you wish to view the menu (and the pub) you can do so through the website (above). However, I will contact you before the 29th to establish you requirements.

George, David and Gerry.
