DIRECTIONS:
An easy one to find!!  The Grouse and Claret is a large pub on the main A6 at Rowsley some 5 miles past Matlock and 3 miles from Bakewell.

If approaching from Matlock the Grouse and Claret is on the right hand side of the main A6 approximately 100 yards past the B6012 turning for Chatsworth and is next to the main bridge over the River Derwent.

WALK:
Approximately 5 miles of level and up and down walking which was tested by Hilary and myself yesterday.  From Rowsley, by the side of the river Derwent we make our way to the hamlet of Calton Lees on the Chatsworth Estate and then via a longish but steady climb to Haddon woods we return to Rowsley.  The walk has superb views throughout, is good underfoot and is ‘shorts friendly’.
