LATHKILL DALE, Over Haddon, nr. Bakewell 11 July 2013

Gentlemen, its time once again, for us to put on those walking boots and head off on a grumble – oops ramble round the beautiful Derbyshire hills and dales.  By popular demand (me and Keith) we are re-visiting an area we walked in would you believe it - eight years ago, details» but it will be a largely new walk!!  If Carlsberg did walks!!!

START POINT: Lathkil Hotel, Over Haddon, Nr. Bakewell, Derbyshire DE45 1JE
                           Tel: 01629 812501

DIRECTIONS:
To Bakewell - if using the A619 from Chesterfield go to the roundabout in the centre of Bakewell by the Rutland Hotel, take the left turn and almost immediate right turn up the B5055 signed to Monyash.
If coming on the A6 from Matlock take the left turn just before the roundabout.  Continue uphill past the left turning for Lady Manners School and take a left turn on a minor road signed to Over Haddon (approx. 1 mile).  There is limited parking behind the Lathkil Hotel or alternative street parking nearby.

WALK:
It is approximately 5 miles down beautiful Lathkill Dale and Bradford Dale to Youlgreave and return.  There is one longish descent and one short steepish climb.  It is mostly good footpaths and should be ‘shorts’ friendly - weather permitting!

The Lathkil Hotel has the best views for miles around and a good reputation for serving an excellent selection of hot and cold buffet style food, marvellous puddings and a great selection of real ales.
