The walk is a gentle 5 mile walk along the canal footpath and through the countryside with just a few stiles.

Shackerstone is to the west of Leicester and north of Market Bosworth. For those travelling from the North it’s probably best approached by leaving the M1 at junction 22 travelling west along the old A50 towards Coalville then turning south on the A447. Shackerstone is signposted and is a right turn off this road.
