TEVERSAL COUNTRY TRAILS   17 July 2014

This is a completely new walk just south of Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire.  It covers created trails through open countryside and has passed the test when tried by five intrepid members last week!!

MEETING UP, COFFEE & LUNCH VENUE:  HARDWICK INN, DERBYSHIRE
For convenience and food ordering for lunch we have decided to meet up for coffee at a ‘proven’ venue – the  Hardwick Inn, which is at the foot of the slope below Hardwick Hall - Tel. No. 01246 850245; Postcode: S44 5QJ.  We are requested to park on the left hand side of the private road leading to the pub or in the adjacent overspill car park and we will then share fewer cars to travel on to Teversal.  Please meet at the usual time 10.00am for a 10.30am start.

DIRECTIONS
Hardwick Inn is approximately 5 minutes from M1 Junction 29.  Take M1 north / south and come off at exit 29 for Chesterfield / Mansfield / Matlock.  Take the A6175 to Clay Cross (first left turn after north bound slip road).  Follow for approximately 400 yards and turn first left onto Mill Lane (not marked but signed to Stainsby and Hardwick Hall).  Follow this road for approximately 2 miles travelling parallel to M1, round an acute hairpin corner and then going underneath M1; passing the entrance to Hardwick Country Park.  The road to the Hardwick Inn is the next left after approximately 400 yards.

NB: M1 roadworks from Junctions 28 to 30 are still on-going.  An alternative route to the Hardwick Inn from Junction 28, via Huthwaite is an option if major delays are apparent.

WALK
We will drive from the Hardwick Inn to the Teversal Visitor Centre (approx. 1½ miles).  The walk on the Teversal and Skegby Trails is approx. 5 miles of flat easy going walking on excellent paths with no stiles or nettles, therefore shorts friendly!!
