Rowsley & Stanton in the Peak, Wednesday 25th February 2015

Gentlemen,

A Happy New Year from a still snowy Derbyshire. It’s time once again for us to put on those walking boots, head off on a ramble round the Derbyshire Dales and walk off those Xmas and New Year excesses!!Details of the walk are as follows:

START POINT: Grouse and Claret, Rowsley Nr. Bakewell, Derbyshire DE4 2EB Tel: 01629 733233
Website www.grouseclaretpub.co.uk

TIME: 10.00am assemble for tea/coffee at the Grouse and Claret with the walk to start at 10.30am.

DIRECTIONS:
An easy one to find!! The Grouse and Claret is a large pub on the main A6 at Rowsley some 5 miles past Matlock and 3 miles from Bakewell.
If approaching from Matlock the Grouse and Claret is on the right hand side of the main A6 approximately 100 yards past the B6012 turning for Chatsworth and is next to the main bridge over the River Derwent.

WALK:
The walk is approximately 4½ miles of mainly level, but with a certain amount of up and down, walking from Rowsley to Stanton in the Peak and return. The walk (weather permitting) gives superb views over the Wye Valley and Haddon Hall Estate. Most of the terrain is good underfoot but dependent upon the weather ‘muddy puddles’ (Granddads will understand this) must be anticipated.
