Swarkestone, South Derbyshire , Wednesday 24th August 2016


This is to confirm the details of the next walk in South Derbyshire. Peter Garlick has made the arrangements and has booked the Crewe & Harpur at Swarkestone. (Telephone: 01332 700641 and for sat navvers: DE73 7JA).

As normal it’s coffee from 10.00 am and lunch at about 1.00pm. The walk is 4 miles of flat walking amidst good scenery along the River Trent and the Trent and Mersey Canal.

The simplest route to Swarkestone is via the M1, leaving at Junction 24 if you’re coming from the south and Junction 24a if you’re coming from the north. Both exits lead you onto the A50 signposted Stoke, Derby, Lockington, Castle Donington. Leave the A50 at Junction 3 signposted Swadlingcote and Melbourne. The pub is less than a mile away on the right hand side.
